I have spent my whole life in the health/healthcare and wellness fields. I grew up as the oldest of 3 girls whose parents who encouraged active, healthy lifestyles and encouraged everyone to be their best selves. I am a wife and mother of three “big” kids (ages 18, 17 and 12) and have spent my adult life adapting to the constantly changing demands, while maintaining a consistent focus on health and wellness. A lover of running, biking, swimming, hiking, walking and generally being active, I have completed 16 marathons, 20+ half-marathons, 5 Half-Ironman distance races and more than 30 other triathlons.
I graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT where I played field hockey for 3 years and ran on the outdoor track team for 3 years. I majored in Biology (Pre-Med) and minored in Human Movement Studies.Following college, I continued my studies at Hahnemann University (now Drexel University) in Philadelphia, PA where I completed a Masters in Physical Therapy - and trained for my first marathon while finishing my studies.
My Physical Therapy career began at Massachusetts General Hospital in the in and outpatient departments treating a variety of patients, including adult and pediatric, trauma, orthopedic, oncology, ICU and pre and post-natal. While at MGH, I was a founding member of the MassGeneral Hospital for Kids Marathon Program that supports the pediatric oncology program. I provided training programs for the runners the first two years as well as running and fundraising for patients. After a few years of full time patient care, I went on to pursue a Masters in Public Health at Harvard University with a focus in Health Care Management and Policy. In addition to patient care, I have worked as a consultant with state governments regarding health care and child welfare programs. I owned my own personal training business and co-founded and owned an independent running store and was responsible for staff training of gait analysis as well as overall operations.
I have been certified as a Spin instructor, a Pre/PostNatal Certified Personal Trainer, a Healthe Habits ™ coach and a Certified Level I Run Coach. Currently, I work part-time as a Physical Therapist in a clinic in Chevy Chase, MD as well as the Director of Programs for JUST TRYAN IT, a non-profit organization that strives to minimize the financial impact of childhood cancer on families and instill the values of empathy and leadership by hosting youth triathlons where kids ages 6-14 race and fundraise.
My passion is helping people find ways to make fitness and wellness a way of life rather than a means to an end. I sincerely enjoy sharing my knowledge to empower clients to feel in control of their choices around health, wellness and fitness. I am a big believer in finding balance in all aspects of life and in the idea that we never “have time” to do all we want in life. I see my role as helping my clients MAKE time for themselves; to understand what their priorities are so they can achieve the goals they set.
